ANTaR News.....
ANTaR QLD has written to Premier Peter Beattie expressing concerns about the shortcomings of the Queensland Government's native title legislation and its implementation.

Whitefella business
Most readers will be aware of what ANTaR is and how it came into being. Briefly, in the wake of the first Howard attack on Wik, the National Indigenous Working Group (NIWG) called for white supporters throughout Australia to organise themselves into one body so that there would be just one point of communication for the native title campaign. ANTaR was the result, and for the first time there was a national organisation that non-Indigenous people could join to show solidarity with Indigenous people in their struggle.

Indigenous peoples lash out at WTO inequities
Protests in the streets of Seattle outside the recent World Trade Organisation ministerial meeting were so severe and feelings ran so high that proceedings were almost aborted. Prisoner amnesty call - the view from the inside
Strong arguments regarding an amnesty for all Aboriginal prisoners in 2000 were presented in the November edition of Land Rights Queensland.

The dilemma for infrastructure bodies
This is the tenth article in a series by John Sheehan dealing with valuation and native title issues.

Time to take off the blinkers on housing
With most attention in the 20th century paid to native title and cultural heritage, Democrats Indigenous affairs spokesman, John Woodley (right), says it's time to look at an issue that underscores all others within Indigenous affairs &endash; homelessness. Recent figures show this is a major problem for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As we enter the new millennium, Senator Woodley says it's time to bite the bullet.
