Racist laws will hurt Olympics
The Federal Government will suffer wide criticism during the Olympic Games if it does not repeal the Native Title Amendment Act passed last year, says the deputy chair of the National Indigenous Working Group on Native Title (NIWG), Les Malezer.




UN sees need for world conference to combat racism
The decision by the United Nations General Assembly that a World Conference to Combat Racism should be held during 2001 is the culmination of the International Decade to Combat Racism and arises from the frustration felt by many that efforts to combat racism are not working.




Ranger training program kicks off

ATSIC Chair Gatjil Djerrkura fears that if Aboriginal land rights are kept out of the declaration for reconciliation, a damaging split between white and black Australia may eventuate.

University reconciliation forum
A forum on the Draft Document of Reconciliation will be held at the University of Queensland on Thursday August 5, from 11am to 3pm at the Staff and Graduates Club, in the Kathleen Room, to be accompanied at 5pm the same day by a screening of the movie 'Bulworth' starring Warren Beatty, in the Schonell Theatre.
